USTA QuickStart Workshop

Frederick County Division of Park & Recreation is hosting a QuickStart Tennis Workshop.  This workshop features nationally certified trainers from the USTA teaching extensive information from the QuickStart tennis play format, including age appropriate play situations and games for children ages 5-10.  This workshop is for people ages 18 and up.  Cost is $10 per person.  Athletic attire is recommended, please bring water and a small snack.

Junior Team Tennis League

New this fall is our Jr. Team Tennis League at Urbana Community Park.  This league is for children ages 7-18 and features match play in set age groups.  Teams of 6 players compete to earn a spot in the July 2012 Maryland State Tournament hosted by the USTA.  This 6-week league with games on Satrudays is $55 per participant or $35 for Team Captain's child (parent volunteer).  Game times will vary between 9am-3pm depending upon how many children/teams we have.  League play starts on Saturday, September 17th, practices are held before matches.  For more information or to register call 301-600-2936 or visit our website at http://www.recreater.com/

Tennis Festival Canceled

Frederick County Parks & Recreation has canceled the Tennis Festival program which was supposed to be held next Saturday, August 27th from 10am-Noon at the Urbana Community Park tennis courts.  This program.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.  If you need to get a hold of anyone about this you may contact David Kling, Recreation Coordinator at 301-600-1637 or email at dkling@frederickcountymd.gov

New sports program...SNAG

Frederick County Parks & Recreation has added a new sports program for the fall session.  The program is called SNAG and stands for Starting New At Golf.  This new and innovative method teaches children how to play golf using modified equipment which is fun and easy to use and is a proven learning and training tool for entry level golfers.  We will be offering this program at two locations this fall.  Below are the details...

Tuesdays, starting 9/20    4:30-5:15 & 5:30-6:15

Walkersville Rec Center
